Badger Trails is an informative and motivating cross-curricular simulation for ages 6 to 9. A charming talking story sets the scene for the exciting adventure in which children take on the role of a lost badger trying to find his way home.


Using animation and full graphic capabilities, children can see, hear, taste, smell and feel what the badger experiences. Using the eight point compass and plan view map provided, they must guide the badger back to its sett and use their problem solving and thinking skills to avoid dangers along the way.

    "Badger Trails is another impressive piece of software from Sherston. Aimed at children between 6 and 8 years, it is intended to be useful in disciplines including literacy, science and geography, particularly the latter discipline with its emphasis on compass skills.

    This CD-ROM should be on every primary school's shopping list. It does not provide as much information as, for instance, a Wildlife on One documentary, but it will enable children to find out more about this shy, nocturnal creature in a challenging way."

    "Badger Trails is an informative and motivating CD-ROM aimed at children in lower KS2. It contains a captivating talking story that gives the background information for an exciting adventure in which children take on the role of a lost badger. Children use their mapping and compass skills to look for food, drink, a place to sleep and safety in their own sett. Pupils can see, hear, smell and feel what the badger experiences and must use the information to complete their journey. Along the way, there are dangers to avoid - pupils lose a life if they are not careful but score points for finding food and drink. The program encourages the use of critical thinking and could be easily incorporated into science, geography or literacy lessons."
